Would I be better off buying one that works, or can I save by getting it repaired.

i just had to buy a new 42″ sony bravia cause i had the same problem…it is WAY more cost efficient to buy a new tv than to try and replace the front panel…the cost of the front panel is around 500..but now it will be more likely to malfunction again..so id suggest that you buy a new one.
A lot of people ask this same question at http://www.HDGURU.com. The main thing is to find the part. If you can find a part locally, it might be worth repairing. The techs all complain that parts are hard to find; especially the front panel or screen.
