But if you’re not the sort of person who is always on the go and you’re the type of person who enjoys staying inside the house, a small LCD TV will be perfect for your lifestyle. You can easily find an good spot for a 15 to 24-inch LCD TV. You can prop one on top of your kitchen counter so you can watch while you’re cooking. If you have a hobby room or a mini library, a 19-inch unit can keep you company all the time.
You should not let its smaller size fool you because it can become the center piece of your house entertainment set up. This is especially true if your home has limited space. You can just hook it up with a DVD player and some good surround sound speaker system and you’re set. With small LCD televisions, there’s no such thing as small or limited space.
Technically speaking, one of the advantages of LCD TVs is the reduced glare coming off of the screen. This can be caused by the anti-glare finish that they apply on the screen which are not like the usual CRT televisions that are just composed of clear glass. Thus, you can put LCD TVs inside areas in your home that are receiving a lot of sunlight.
The Negative Side of Portable or Small LCD TVs
Some LCD screen TVs, especially the lower priced ones, experience some sort of motion blurring. It happens when the animation of the images projected on the LCD screen is too fast to be rendered, resulting in what looks like a blur. This effect is eliminated or at least lessened on higher quality LCD TV units.
Another disadvantage is the viewing angle. An LCD TV is ideally watched when you’re exactly fronting it. The image or viewing quality degrades as you move farther from the center.
And of course, LCD televisions do not come cheap. It is pricier compared to regular television units. You could give an argument that there are a lot of inexpensive alternatives, even no-name units. Never fall for those LCD TVs. The build and picture quality are always poorer plus they often offer very limited warranties. Believe me, those units do not last long.
Portable and small LCD TV flat screens are ideal for many situations but they are also quite frustrating to work with in some situations. They are best for small homes and for mobile entertainment when you’re on the go. They aren’t ideal for those who like big screens and are easily fatigued by watching small ones. It is best to carefully study your need for such a TV before you go buy one.
