42 inch Panasonic hdtv projection television – just shut off.
if i turn it on it comes on for 5 seconds or so, then shuts off and the little light on the front blinks 3 times.
thats it… no sound or picture.
$90 to have someone come look at it and that DOES NOT get applied towards repair cost. $40 to look at it if we can get it to the shop, but that doesn’t get applied towards the repair cost either, plus it will take 4 weeks just for someone to look at it.
Does anyone have ANY IDEA what could be wrong with this TV? We can’t afford to fix it, can’t afford a decent size LCD, and I can’t see hauling this huge TV and just tossing it in the dump!

I know it costs alot but take it in, it might just need to be reset which will cost you an extra $5. BUt it could be worst don’t try to fix it yourself.
It’s not worth fixing. I’ve had a similar Panasonic HDTV and it died. I just gave it away to a friend and it cost him $600 to get a new part installed and fix. It was one of the boards for the power. The TV itself is worth no more than $200 if it was still working. Your better off getting a newer HDTV than fixing it. I’m betting it’s going to cost you around that much to fix it. I know you wrote you can’t afford to buy a new TV but it looks like that would be a better option than fixing something that is already obsolete. I’d seriously think about saving your money and getting something decent.
